Spring has truly sprung in Tahoe! You know what that means? It's time for a local favorite and family-friendly event in the region, the 32nd Annual Cushing Crossing on Saturday, May 4 at 1PM! This signature Palisades Tahoe event is the original of its kind: pond-skimming!
New to pond skimming? For decades, pond skimming has served as a rite of passage for skiers celebrating the arrival of spring. It's an excuse to wear something silly—perhaps a pink bunny or a unicorn costume—and attempt to ski or snowboard across a very cold body of water. Think of it as an alpine ode to spring! Always a bittersweet time of year in the region: we appreciate all of winter's hard work, we slide into spring, and get really excited for all that Tahoe has to offer during the summer.
Whether you want to compete in the pond-skimming fun or watch from the sidelines, this event is sure to give thrill seekers and dreamers lots of fun and laughs. You won't want to miss out on the celebrity judging panel, costumes, general hilarity, drinks, and a whole lot of fun. The awards ceremony will immediately follow the event. Each category winner will win prizes from the event's sponsors: Yeti, Smith, Dakine, and Darn Tough.
Interested in competing? Registration begins at 7AM on Friday, May 3 on the KT Deck. Fee to compete is $20, cash only, and spots are limited! The participant must be there in person to register.
