Squaw Valley Lodge has partnered with
Alpenglow Expeditions giving you an epic climbing experience to share with your family and friends! Alpenglow owns and operates Tahoe Via Ferrata, a fixed climbing route on a towering granite peak known as the Tram Face at Squaw Valley Resort. Climbers ascend steep terrain while being safely secured to the rock with specialized equipment that attaches directly to steel cables and steel anchors.
Alpenglow uses a Continuous Lifeline System where a climber's lanyard cannot become unclipped once it's attached to the cable. This system makes it a protected hiking and climbing experience for all ability levels. Every climber wears required safety gear such as a harness, safety lanyard, gloves and helmet making it a fun and safe experience.
New Loophole Route
The new Loophole Route provides the most amount of climbing with the least amount of hiking making it the perfect outdoor adventure! The Loophole traverses the lower half of Squaw Valley's iconic Tram Face in just 2.5 hours! It's suitable for all ability levels, including first time climbers and ages 10 and up. With a ratio of 6 participants to 1 guide, you can't beat the personal experience Alpenglow offers on this expedition.
Start your climbing adventure at the Alpenglow office in the Village where you'll meet your trained guide, gear up, listen to a safety briefing and then jump into a 4x4 vehicle that will drop you at the base of The Loophole Route. After a quick 10-minute hike to the start of the climb, you'll practice sliding your carabiner along the cable. Once you're comfortable with the technique, the climb begins!
Get ready to ascend a short, vertical section directly below Sylvester's Slot ski run before weaving back and forth among granite towers. The climb continues upward to the Ski Tree atop the ski run and then you'll head to Olympic Valley Overlook for jaw-dropping views of the valley and the surrounding Sierras. Then prepare to traverse a ledge back towards the start and rejoin part of The Skyline Traverse Route before descending with ladder rungs.
After a day of climbing the iconic Tram Face, you'll relax in comfort at Squaw Valley Lodge. Whether it's a deluxe studio suite for two or an oversized suite for the family, Squaw Valley Lodge will customize your experience to suit your climbing Adventure.
