Ski In/ Ski Out and best price in the Village

Stayed at SVL the first week of April and were very happy. It's clearly a condo facility and not a 5 star hotel but it does not pretend to be otherwise. Our studio was perferect for the three of us and appeared to ether be reciently be refurbished or was just in great shape. Truly was ski in/ski out right under the gondola and five good kicks to KT22 Express. Hot tubs very handy after sking. To the folks who complain about food in the village they must have been there at a different time than we were. We at ate at Fireside Pizza, High Sierra Grill, and the Alud Dubliner and had wonderfull meals and service at each. Covered parking also at the hotel and had NO noise.Sking was epic. It just keeps snowing and snowing in the Sierras this year. GO THERE THIS SPRING if you can. We also skied at Alpine Medows and Northstar which were all very easy drives when it was dry and hazardous trips when it was snowing 3 inches per hour!

A Peaceful, Recuperative Stay Off-Season

This was another destination picked for me by Hotwire, so I knew only what I had read here at TripAdvisor. I vacation as often as possible at Lake Tahoe, but previously had stayed always at South Lake Tahoe. What a treat for me. I flew into Reno and rented a car at a great rate from the Alamo e-mail special, which one can sign up for on their website. They gave me a little white Jeep which was just the thing for rolling around the mountains. My map, printed out before I left home from RandMcNally, got me from the airport to the Lodge with complete accuracy. The front desk sweetheart put me into Unit #248. This was just the spot I needed. I work in customer service "dealing with the public" and my vacation needed to be, and totally was, a time for me to just get away and unwind. I had stopped and bought groceries and liquor and a bottle of some lovely Sonoma County wine (much better price there than what we pay here!) in Reno to take to my condo, since TripAdvisor.com had glowing reviews of utencil-stocked kitchenettes. After being helped by the bell dude :-) (they do indeed have a younger staff here!) with all the groceries and way too much luggage that I always manage to overpack along, I was all set for three days of total R&R. This Unit had absolutely everything I...

Loved Squaw Valley area!

Just returned from heavenly 5 days at Tahoe staying at the SVL. Weather was perfect- 80s and sunshine. The SVL was perfect for the 4 of us- we had an extended loft. The only thing I might do differently next time would be to upgrade to a 2 BR condo for the balcony and a little more privacy with 2 closed off BRs. The condo had everything we needed. We bought groceries at Alice's Mountain Market in the Village- and cooked breakfast each morning. There are several very good restaurants in the Village- Fireside Pizza, and Irish pub, Balboa's Cafe and Plumpjacks-- a varied menu and all very good food! You must plan your shopping early as stores close at 6pm. It's a sleepy village- very laid back and perfect for a vacation. Filled our 4 days there with whitewater rafting, cycling along the lake and Truckee River, swimming at Sand Harbor and visiting various sites all around the Lake loop. Great vacation!
