Glide your way across snowy fields and icy trails with cross-country skiing, a local favorite. Just nine miles from Olympic Valley, Tahoe Cross Country (XC) Ski Area features miles of groomed cross-country trails, a day lodge, cafe, rentals and lessons. Head out to ski or snowshoe on snow-covered trails through Ponderosa Pine and White Fir trees. Cruise along open meadows and gentle rolling hills, or climb up to enjoy fantastic views of Lake Tahoe. Two trail-side warming huts provide ideal locations for getting out of the weather and warming up with a free hot chocolate or tea. Those older than 69 and younger than 10 enjoy free Tahoe cross-country skiing at Tahoe XC – and dogs are welcome too!

Is cross-country skiing good for any age?
Tahoe cross-country skiing is suitable for children ages 5 and up that have practiced the basics of the sport. Keep in mind that XC skiing can be a hefty workout, so be sure to tailor your excursion to the age and skill level of the child.

Are lessons and rentals available?
Lessons and rentals are available at Tahoe XC. All-day lessons for adults cost $70 (or $50 for youth and seniors). There are also longer clinics. Guests can also rent cross-country skis ($22-30), snowshoes ($15-20), and pull sleds ($25) by the day.
