Close Out Summer With Thunderbird Lodge Kayak Tour
Posted by: Palisades Tahoe Lodge Rentals
As summer winds down and the season changes celebrate the beauty of fall with a unique experience you can only get via paddle on Lake Tahoe!
Paddle your way to the historic Thunderbird Lodge and explore an undeveloped side of Lake Tahoe with Tahoe Adventure Company! Tour the grounds of the Whittell Estate and walk through a hidden tunnel leading to the infamous Card House and Boat House. Set your eyes on the Thunderbird Yacht, a one-of-a-kind wooden speedboat built back in 1939, famous for shepherding showroom headliners and casino high-rollers across the Lake. The yacht's millionaire owner built his estate out of the granite surrounds and contributed to the conservation of Lake Tahoe's shoreline. He became a recluse later in life, rarely being seen, making him infamous and turning his home and his yacht into a piece of history.
TAC's New Shuttle Service
Tahoe Adventure Company's private shuttle now takes participants directly to Sand Harbor! That means hassle-free parking and more time on the beach before getting on the Lake. The easy to moderate tour covers 3 miles on the water and has a minimum age requirement of 10 years. Thunderbird Kayak Tours take place every Tuesday from June to September or by special arrangement. Snacks and a deli lunch on the beach will be provided and tickets cost $195 per person.
