Soar Up the Mountain on the Aerial Tram
Start your day with a ride on the Aerial Tram. In just 10 minutes, you’ll glide 2,000 vertical feet up to High Camp, where the whole family can take in sweeping alpine views. At the top, there’s plenty to keep everyone busy—roller skating, disc golf, hiking or just relaxing with a snack while the kids run wild. The Aerial Tram opens for the summer on June 20.
Try the Via Ferrata (Yes, Even for Beginners!)
If your family has older kids or teens who are up for a thrilling challenge, don’t miss the Via Ferrata. It’s a guided climbing route along the iconic Tram Face, using fixed cables, ladders, and steel rungs—no climbing experience needed. You’re securely clipped in the whole time, and expert guides make it both safe and fun. It’s a one-of-a-kind way to explore the mountain and push your limits together. Tahoe Via Ferrata opens May 30.
Explore the Trails and Waterfalls
Back on the ground, check out the Shirley Canyon Trail. It’s a moderate hike with lots of natural beauty—waterfalls, granite cliffs, and forested paths. Pack a picnic and hang out at Shirley Lake, or hike all the way up to High Camp and take the tram back down for a cool twist on a traditional hike.
Drop the Kids Off at Adventure Camp
Need a little downtime? Enroll the kids in the Palisades Kids Adventure Camp. They’ll spend the day exploring nature, doing crafts, and playing games with new friends—while you enjoy a peaceful coffee, hike, or even a spa visit. Palisades Kids Adventure Camp is open from June 16- August 23.
