Celebrate the beginning of summer in Tahoe City during the solstice weekend that kicks off on Thursday, June 18, 2015. As one of Lake Tahoe's signature events, this annual festival puts everyone in a warm weather mood with live music, plenty of local wine, a farmers' market, and a big lineup of events all weekend long.
On Thursday, explore the bounty of Lake Tahoe with a farmers' market along Commons Beach. Friday the Solstice Stroll Classic Car Show takes over the streets from 6 to 8 pm. Over 50 vintage vehicles in all shapes and styles will be on display. The variety will please any classic car lover. You can also enjoy live music and happy hour specials from local breweries and wine bars. On Saturday morning you can join in the Solstice Paddle on Lake Tahoe from 9 to 11:30 am. In the afternoon is the annual Tahoe City Wine Walk that features over 30 California wineries and the city's best restaurants. Stroll lakefront as you visit boutique shops and sample regional varietals and gourmet bites along the way.
Finally, on Sunday June 20, the solstice festivities wind down with Concerts on Commons Beach. This free show from 4 to 7 pm marks the opening of the beach for the season. Lighting up the stage will be the funky sounds of Montana and The Groove Foundry. The lakeside ambiance is pure joy as people dance to the tunes and snack on treats like ice cream, barbecue, sushi, beer, and wine. Whether you can visit for one day or all four, come join in the festivities and welcome summer to beautiful Tahoe City!
